HPC plays a central role in TerraDT. Our work on next-generation Earth system modelling relies on powerful computing infrastructures capable of handling high-resolution simulations and vast environmental datasets. These capabilities allow researchers to explore complex cryosphere–atmosphere–land interactions with greater accuracy, supporting stronger scientific insights and more reliable climate projections that can inform climate adaptation policies and actions at a regional and local level.
For TerraDT, being present at SC25 was an opportunity to showcase how European digital twin initiatives are embracing cutting-edge computational methods. Engaging directly with hardware vendors, HPC centres, and software developers helps us align our modelling roadmap with the fast-evolving technological landscape: from accelerators and heterogeneous architectures to workflow optimisation and scalable data management.
SC25 also offered valuable exchanges with international research communities working on climate and Earth system simulations. These conversations strengthen collaborations that are essential for pushing model performance, improving interoperability, and ensuring that TerraDT contributes to global efforts to advance reliable, high-resolution Earth system modelling.
IT4Innovations serves as one of TerraDT’s key HPC partners alongside BSC and CSC. Their role focuses on providing the high-performance computing capacity, technical expertise, and software optimisation support needed to run and scale TerraDT’s high-resolution Earth system simulations. If you had a chance to meet them at SC25 and you are interested in learning more about our progress, make sure to follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter.
